Whitetail Hunting in Back Pasture
Are you still looking for that special whitetail hunting land? Checkout the following photos for this unbelievable deer hunting property.
In this post, my brother and I walk down the back side of the ridge field to the valley pasture at the back of this hunting wonder. As I mentioned earlier, this section of the pasture is shaped like the top of the letter “Y”.
Please note the walk takes place within the red highlighted area in the survey map shown below.
On the walk down the hill we decided to use one of the main deer trails instead of using one of the logging trails. Although there are some minor logging trails, this land was NEVER scalped as you might see with some hunting grounds.
Our walk does require the use of some helpful trees so that we don’t slide down the hill — but — that’s part of the fun walking out here. In this short walk, we leave the views from the top of the country side to carefully meander around photographic rocks and tall trees to get to the opening to the pasture.
Deer love to either walk the rim of this hill while over looking the valley below or they slice down the hillside for quick route to the other side of the valley.
Take a look at this first photo and check out the well travel whitetail trail coming up into the field.

This is the last look at the ridge field. By that way, before that last section was cleared off we found out just how steep that was by dragging one of our deer to the clearing. On that day it was a cat and mouse session with an 8 pointer.

It’s a well traveled trail but you’d better hang on to some of the small trees or it will be a quicker trip down than you want.

Looking to the right we could have chosen to take one of the logging roads down but it’s not as clear as the deer trail.

On the left, you can see some of the rock points that the deer stay above so they can checkout everything below.

At this point, we’re almost into section of woods which is in between the steep slope and the part that is partially pastured by the cattle. You can see some blue sky as the hill turns back to the main pasture.

Ah yes, we’re down to the pasture on the right side of the “Y” section.

This is looking to the left towards the other side of the pasture and to the small field at the end of the property.

Straight across the pasture is the first of two springs at the bottom of ‘King’s Point’. By the way, this is probably the favorite spot for the deer to cross between these hills.

This is a view to the right, South, and the end of the property. The tree just in front of us is one of MANY black walnut trees in this valley.

This is looking to the left again as we actually get to the bottom — check out the walnuts on the ground.

Out of focus but you’ll see the black walnuts have green husks until they ripen some more.

We’re now heading South, to our right, towards the end of the property on this side. You can see some of the water in the stream right in front of us.

As we head to the end this is looking off to our left where you can see part of the hill for King’s Point. Take a closer look. You just don’t see very many hills around this section of the state that is so wide open and grassy as opposed to being brushy and heavily wooded.

A look back up the hill that is wooded and actually comes around the ridge field we were in earlier.

And finally, we take a look East in the last valley area on the right side of the “Y” valley. This is a very cool walk with very large oak trees, very grassy and open and just generally pretty darn awesome. The family dogs just can’t get enough time here checking out the raccoon trails, squirrels and what have you around here. The end of the property isn’t too far from you can see below.

This the end of this section. Take another look at the past posts and I’ll be back soon as my brother and I head up this unique grassy hillside and around King’s point. It’s on this head the King and I actually sat one fall day as three doe slowly grazed in front of us on the hillside and then into the valley. I surprised King didn’t go crazy but he just laid there and took in the sights the same as I did.
It truly doesn’t get any better than this — unless of course I would have had a Miller High Life along. Oh well pretty darn sweet any way.
If you are interested in this great property for lease or hunting, I would suggest not waiting long as this website will get more and more popular everyday once we have enough pages and following.

Have a great day.
By the way, as you can see this can be quite a walk. You may want to check out one of the local ATV dealers, Vetesnik Power Sports, for a great deal and welcomed relief.
