Whitetail Overlook – King’s Point

Checkout this truly unique hill for an awesome whitetail outlook on WI hunting land for sale.  This particular hill is grass covered instead of trees and brush.

I was originally going to say this is my favorite part of the walk because of the grassy hill and King’s Point ,,,,, but,,,,,, I guess I’ll have to pull a Brett Farve move and change my mind.

There are so many great turkey hunting and whitetail hunting areas on this property.

This particular post will focus on the area outlined in red on the following aerial survey photo.

WI Hunting Land - King's Point

WI Hunting Land - King's Point

The first photo is the same as the last one on the post coming down from ridge fields but a little further into this grassy but wooded valley.  Oak tree, oak trees, hickory nut trees, walnut trees in a really unique area.

Iowa County, Snead Creek Land - Farm 165

We are almost to the end of the property and straight ahead is the route up the hill.  There is a line fence around the property but it is not visible here.  I guess we’ll get a few more photos for future posts.

Farm 166

I guess the next tree must have been beat up a little bit by the cattle.

Farm 167

Mid way up the hill it looks like we might get into some thick woods but this is simply a few tree tops from thinning out some old or dying trees.

Farm 168

We’re about 2/3 of the way up the hill and you’ll see a lot of those nut trees.

Farm 169

At this point, we’re almost all the way on top now.  There is a tree stand near here but for some reason I must have lost it.  This is a favorite spot for the lucky ones because it’s so open and right in the main travel plans for the whitetail.

Farm 170

A small opening at the top.

Farm 171

Well, we’re finally heading back to King’s Point.

Farm 172

As you can see the hill narrows to the point and the bucks love it here because they can check out three sides of action from up here.  The valley will be straight ahead.  The grassy hill is to the left and there is a steep hill to the right with a logging road that creates a tough access point.

Farm 173

This NO PLACE like this in the county that I know of that has such a sunny, grassy, wooded hill top out in the middle of heavy timber.  Sections like this on the top of the hills usually have the shorter and twisted white and red oak trees.

Farm 174

From this same spot we also looked to our left to see down into the valley near that first spring.  That’s also the direction to back up the other hillside towards the ridge top field.  Turning further to the left is where King and I watched the three doe walk through on that warm fall day.

Farm 175

At this point King’s rock is straight ahead over the valley.

Farm 176

And of course this is King’s rock itself.  Unbelievable as it seems I don’t have the actual straight ahead shot.  More reasons to get back out there and get some more pictures — unless you decide to get them yourself.

Farm 177

Believe it or not this October day still has a lot of GREEN with leaves and grass.

Farm 181

The next two photos are actually from the second hill in the middle of the “Y” pasture.  As you can see the young lumber is thick and straight.  To the left is the second spring at the edge of the pasture.

Farm 183

There’s no reason not to see your buck in woods like this!

Farm 184

I hope you enjoyed the stroll.  This area was made up front two small hills, has a logging road to get to the top and is always a runway for deer above the two springs.

Don’t wait too long for this hunting paradise because it won’t stay around forever.
